Meet Sammy!

Sammy is black rough Brussels Griffon that is as SWEET as he is BIG. Technically, he'a a black and tan Griffon because he has a little tan under his tail and a little on his legs and beard. He's very, very large for a Griffon at about 22 pounds. Look at his pictures...doesn't he have the sweetest face with those big soulful eyes?

Poor Sammy was born in a puppymill in Missouri where he just grew too much. This is actually very lucky for him since the mill did not want him for breeding purposes because of his size and gave him to a local rescue who contacted us. Now, he's safe and healthy and learning how to be a pampered pet....and he's been neutered and is current on his vaccinations.

When he got here, Sammy was only about 17 pounds, very thin for his size. He also had ear and eye infections and was infested with heartworms. All of that has now been cleared up and he's solid as a rock (no ribs showing on this boy because he's a good eater). He turned 3 years old in January so he's a youngster.

Although he was very timid and frightened when he first got here, Sammy is now basically a very happy, playful and loving boy. He is a little skittish when things surprise him but he bounces back quickly and comes running back to be petted. He may always be skittish at sudden movements or noises....but he's learning quickly to trust humans and he loves to be petted and brushed. He's also learned how to give big kisses! Such a sweet, sweet boy.

Sammy really loves other dogs and plays very well with small dogs. He's gentle and accommodating to their needs when playing. Overall, he's very submissive with other animals. He would love to have a running and playing buddy about his size. He's doing extremely well with his housebreaking and knows how to use a doggie door to go out when he needs to.

Sammy needs a home with lots of love, patience and stability. He would probably be frightened of small children. Because of his size, he will not be able to fly to his new home. Sammy is located in north Texas. He will either have to be adopted locally or driven to his home. If you think you might be the right home for this very special boy, please fill out an adoption application and contact Linda.

If you would like more information, contact Linda McKellar. If you are interested in adoption please fill out our Adoption Application.
