Meet Riley!

Riley came to NBGR from another rescue who had received him as part of a surrender of dogs from a commercial breeder. Riley will be 8 years old in February. He is neutered and he weighs about 12 lbs.

Riley spent most of his life without the benefit of much social interaction with people. Because of that he is a very shy fellow. He really wants to be loved but he is just learning how to receive love and how to interact with people. He has learned that his favorite time of day is snuggling with his foster mom on the couch in the evening. Once he gets to know you, he smiles and wiggles for your attention. He is very shy and reserved with strangers and needs patience to get to know people.

Riley has been learning to be house broken and he is doing pretty well with it. He is eager to please and is enjoying learning some basic commands.

Riley is up to date on vaccines and is heartworm negative. He takes heartworm preventative. He is being fostered near Des Moines, Iowa.

Keep in mind that we prefer to place dogs within driving distance of where they are being fostered. If someone from outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must be willing to fly in to get the dog and that can only happen if the dog is stable enough to travel in the cabin with the passenger.
