Meet Popsy!

Popsy is a 1-2 year old, 19 lb. female Griff, with beautiful big brown eyes. Animal Control found her wandering the Chicago streets, so we don't know how she started her life. She was a very sweet, but scared little girl when she first arrived at her foster Mom's home in early April. She loves every person she meets and bonds very quickly, so was probably not abused.

Popsy is a very smart girl! She will sit, stay and fetch already and is 99% potty trained too! She never takes her eyes off her foster Mom, follows her everywhere and jumps in her lap each time she sits down. She won't even go outside to potty unless her foster Mom goes with her. She really likes her foster Dad too, and loves curling up next to him when he gets home from work. Gentle scratches behind her ears are one of her favorite things.

This little girl has a lot of puppyish energy and loves playing with squeaky toys and taking long walks. You will probably get tired before she does! She gets so excited when she sees her leash and is quickly learning the right way to walk with you. If you are taking her for a car ride, she will jump in the second you open the car door.

If you want some quiet time, she will lay at your feet or by your side for as long as you want, but she is ready to go the minute you are. When she wants to play, she will bring you a toy to toss & she will bring it right back to you every time! Popsy will be a perfect companion for an active person or family.

Popsy would love to sleep in bed with you, but is perfectly happy sleeping quietly in her crate all night - as long as she can see you. If you crate her when you leave the house, she will cry a little, but is very quiet when you are home with her. Her foster Mom forgot to crate her once and when she returned home, there were no potty accidents or destructive behavior at all. The only thing that Popsy wants to chew on is a hard Nyla bone or other hard chew toy. She does like to shred tissues and paper, so keep those out of her reach.

Popsy gets along pretty well with most other dogs, but prefers being with her people and would be happiest as the only dog. Popsy is slang for girl friend and she will be your best, most loyal friend for life!

Popsy will always keep her beautiful brown eyes on you!

Keep in mind that we prefer to place dogs within driving distance of where they are being fostered. If someone from outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must be willing to fly in to get the dog and that can only happen if the dog is stable enough to travel in the cabin with the passenger.

Popsy loves a nice roll in the grass - as long as you are close by!
