Meet Peter!
(#2487)
This is Peter Pumpkin, the happiest little dog in the world!
Peter had a rough start in life, crusty and crowded into a small
outside cage with his brothers and sisters. But after a warm bath,
a good meal and a serious haircut, Peter started his new fresh
life and developed his true personality: love sponge.
Now Peter is a bouncy 13 lb 1 - 2 yr. old. He loves to play with
all his dog friends in his foster home, especially his best friend,
Tic Tac the chihuahua. If no one else is in the mood, Peter's
happy to make up a game and play all by himself. He'll bow down
and pretend there are bad guys coming, whipping his little head
back and forth to look over his shoulder, giving soft little woofs.
Or he'll treat himself to a nice back massage against the door
frame. Toys are always good for tossing in the air, where they
try to escape!
After being treated for heartworm, he's a healthy little guy,
both physically and mentally--neutered, up to date on vaccinations
and heartworm negative. He loves to snuggle and give kisses and
he prefers curling up close at bedtime, but unlike many dogs from
similar harsh beginnings, Peter feels secure enough with a nearby
floor spot if the bed is crowded. He is currently using a doggie
door so he will probably need some training before he learns to
ask to go outside to potty.
Because his foster home is out in the country and somewhat isolated,
Peter will need a little bit of exposure and experience to make
him totally comfortable in social situations. Seeing children
for the first time recently, he hid behind his foster mother and
woofed at them. He was not aggressive and his foster mother thinks
he would be fine in a home with children after they were introduced.
Likewise with cats, he curls up on the couch with the couch kitties,
but will woof curiously at the cats who refuse to come down to
his level and say hello.
Please consider taking Peter Pumpkin into your home and heart.
He's an easy dog who doesn't ask for much except to be safe and
loved. And to be allowed to follow you into the bathroom... :)
Peter is located in the Southeast, Missouri.
If you are
interested in adoption please fill out our Adoption Application. If you would like more information, please contact
Cristen at emmaresq@yahoo.com.
Keep in mind
that we prefer to place dogs within driving distance of where
they are being fostered. If someone from outside the local area
is approved for adoption, they must be willing to fly in to get
the dog and that can only happen if the dog is stable enough to
travel in the cabin with the passenger.
