Meet Mr. Mugsy!

Mr. Mugsy's original owners left him with a friend while they were moving and never returned to get him. We don't understand this because Mugsy is just about perfect in every way and is quite the little gentleman. He follows his foster mom everywhere and always comes when called. He asks nothing in return except to be close to you. He doesn't jump on people or furniture and is respectful toward everyone, including other dogs and cats. He walks on his back legs to greet you when you come home and won't touch you unless you invite him. He also dances on his back legs for a treat! He is an energetic, athletic little guy and enjoys playing with toys and going for a walk with you. His sweet, interactive personality has charmed everyone he has met!

Mugsy is a smooth belge Brussels Griffon, he is around 6-7 years old and weighs about 11 lbs. He is neutered, heart worm negative, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations. He had an enlarged prostate, which is shrinking now that he is neutered. His prostate caused him to urinate frequently, but this is much better already. Within 5-10 weeks it should be a normal size. He is crate trained and house trained as long as he has sufficient opportunities to go outside.

If you are interested in adoption please fill out our Adoption Application. If you would like more information, please contact Judy.

Keep in mind that we prefer to place dogs within driving distance of where they are being fostered. If someone from outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must be willing to fly in to get the dog and that can only happen if the dog is stable enough to travel in the cabin with the passenger.

Update!

Mr. Mugsy has been Adopted!

From Mr. Mugsy's new family

Mr. Mugsy is a perfect fit to our household. Though he is unsure of some things, with love and patience both from us, as well as his two feline and two Boston Terrier brothers and sisters, Chardonnay, Quincy, Addison & Bella, he will learn. He is unsure of play, but his big brother Addison is trying to teach him interactive play. Mugsy is still trying to figure out what the heck cats are even though Quincy wants to be his new best friend.

We were told he doesn't bark...gone! He now gets right up on the back of the sofa to bark at squirrels, joggers, and slow moving vehicles right along with Addison & Bella. I can also hear his odd little bark when I come home as they all greet me at the door when I come home from work.

We were told he doesn't get up on the furniture, also gone! We don't mind. He climbs up when I lie down and will either sleep on my chest or curl up between my legs, using my thigh as a pillow. He is shy of hands coming towards him from above but we compensate by starting under his chin. With love and patience he will come around.

He is a happy little guy and wants nothing more than attention and love. We can't help but smile when he looks at us with those big brown eyes that seem to follow us around with hero worship. It is a role we strive to live up to, for him.

We simply wanted to add that final dog to our family and stumbling onto the NBGR website, we found the perfect dog. We look forward to many years with Mr. Mugsy. He has found that happy ending to make for the perfect life all dogs should have. Thank you NBGR for the sweet little guy that was worth the two and Half hour drive.

Edward, David, Addison, Bella, Chardonnay, and Quincy
