Meet Lucy!
Lucy
is a 6 year old female released from a a large commercial breeder
in June as she could no longer produce pups. She is now spayed
and up to date on her shots. She weighs in at around 11 lbs. She
is a shy, quiet, sweet little lady looking for a patient and loving
home to spend the rest of her life in.
Lucy is leash
and crate trained. She walks and plays well with other dogs her
size. She’s a smart little girl and will respond to “sit” when
on a lead. If taken out on a regular schedule, Lucy does fairly
well with housebreaking. She is not completely dependable, and
needs patience in that area.
Her coat was
shaved after her release, but is growing in black with some tan
in the undercoat. Lucy is getting used to human touch and loves
to be rubbed and massaged. She is reluctant at first to be picked
up, but will quickly relax and enjoy being stroked. Her foster
Dad was the one to feed her and give her treats. He regularly
held her and massaged her, and she does not appear to be afraid
of men. She recently learned about rawhide chew sticks but hasn’t
yet figured out what do to with dog toys. Her favorite treat are
little bits of canned chicken which has turned out to be a great
reward for good behavior. Lucy needs a home where someone can
teach her the joys of being a pet and will help her grow into
a faithful companion.
Lucy is being fostered in Kerrville, Texas.
If you are interested in adopting Lucy, please complete our adoption
application and contact Kathie.
Keep in mind
that we prefer to place dogs within driving distance of where
they are being fostered. If someone from outside the local area
is approved for adoption, they must be willing to fly in to get
the dog and that can only happen if the dog is stable enough to
travel in the cabin with the passenger.
