Meet Joanie!

Adorable little Joanie is an approximately 1.5-2 year old female Brussels Griffon mix looking for a family to call her own forever. She was originally rescued from the streets of San Pedro, CA in April 2011. She was adopted within weeks, but now her adoptive family is unable to keep her due to a change in their living situation, so she’s back to needing a home--and we want this to be the last transition Joanie experiences. Because she’s been in a home for nearly 7 months, she’s spayed, up to date on shots, healthy, and we also know a lot about her.

Joanie is a sensitive little dog who needs someone to understand her and will introduce themselves to her slowly and allow her time and space to bond. It doesn’t take long, though. She quickly relaxes and shows her fun-loving side. She rarely barks and prefers cuddling to guarding any day, which matches her svelte 10-ish pounds. She currently lives with 2 other small dogs (and has also lived with big dogs in the past) and gets along well with them. She’s untested with cats and kids, but she has such a loving temperament, she would likely do well with both under proper introduction and supervision. She’s very playful and craves affection from both dogs and humans. She’d love to be in a home with other dogs, but we don’t think she’d complain if she got all of your attention as the only pet in the house--so long as she’s not left alone for hours on end. Joanie is a very social, attached dog who prefers to have company as opposed to flying solo. She loves long walks and hikes--she’s energetic without being the bull in the China shop. She’s also perfect as an indoor or errand-running companion--basically, she just wants to be wherever you are! Although she’s never been taught formal commands, Joanie is very smart and we believe she would excel if trained in basic commands and possibly even agility. Additionally, Joanie is crate-trained.

As an added bonus, Joanie comes with a year’s worth of pet insurance. Though we doubt you’ll need it, it definitely helps knowing she’s got back up if she needs it!
