Meet Heidi!

My name is Heidi, and I'm very excited to share my story with you, because I am a survivor who believes each and every day is a gift with the opportunity to experience true life miracles!!

About this time last year I was living a very sad life in a cage at a commercial breeding facility. My job was to have babies who were quickly taken away from me at a very young age to be sold at pet stores and on the Internet. I never knew the meaning of a kind touch or loving words. Then one miraculous day, the breeder relinquished me to a kindly vet who asked the nice people with National Brussels Griffon Rescue if they could help me find a forever home where I would be loved forever and ever. Of course, they said yes, and soon I was on my way to my foster mommy's house where I would learn all about a happy life filled with love outside of a grimey, lonely cage!

When I first met my foster mommy I was very dirty, stinky, confused, and afraid. After all, this was my first time in a real home! But at the same time I was soooo very happy to FINALLY be free, even though I did not know exactly what freedom meant yet! My foster mommy said I was about to begin a happy new adventure, and I quickly figured out she always told me the truth!

My foster mommy said I was a fast learner and very, very sweet, but it was still a little scary for me to be picked up, because no one had ever treated me with love and kindness before! My foster family was very patient with me, and soon I learned it was silly for me to be afraid.

Within a few hours my foster mommy introduced me to my very first beauty spa day! It felt so good to be massaged during the shampoo, and even better once those awful matts were removed! She said I was a very beautiful and the rest of the family agreed too! It didn't take long before I was one happy little girl, because for the very first time I was CLEAN with a very fashionable Griffy hair cut, and best of all, I felt safe and very much loved! I was beginning to love life, and all I could do was wiggle with happiness!

I even met new friends! We had lots of fun exploring and learning all about playing with toys! I couldn't believe life could get any better for me, but my foster mommy said that someday very soon I would have my very own forever family!

Well, she was right! Soon I found a brand new home with a gorgeous backyard and even prettier new mommy!I loved running and playing in my very own backyard with my new very best friend!

But sadly, after a few months, my new mommy's work schedule changed. She had no choice but to leave me home alone 8-12 hours per day, and I was very lonely without her. She tried lots of different ways to make it work out so we could stay together as one happy family, but no matter how hard she tried, she still had to leave me home alone most of the time. So with lots of sadness and lots and lots of tears, my mommy decided it would be in my best interests to be placed back with National Brussels Griffon Rescue so the nice people here could help me find a new home where my new family can be home with me most of the time. I miss my mommy very much, and I know she still loves me, but I also know she was right when she told me an even better life for me was just around the corner.

So here I am again, still loving life in my usual happy, playful way, running like the wind in my foster mommy's backyard, and very eagerly waiting for that perfect forever stay-at-home family to read my story, and decide I am the one and only little girl that will make their lives complete! Could that family be yours?

I am being fostered in the Kansas City, Missouri metro area.

I'm just 4 years old and at only 9.5 lbs I'm the PERFECT size for cuddling the night away! I am spayed, UTD on vaccinations, Heartworm negative, on monthly Heartworm preventative, microchipped, AND I am perfectly leash trained AND I do not have any accidents in the house as long as someone is home with me to take me outside every few hours! My foster mommy says I'm just about the most perfectly behaved little cuddle bug around! I hope you think so too so we can get started on our brand new life long adventures together!

Hope to hear from you soon!

Love,
Heidi

If you are interested in adoption, please complete our Adoption Application
and contact Jan.

Keep in mind that we prefer to place dogs within driving distance of where they are being fostered. If someone from outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must be willing to fly in to get the dog and that can only happen if the dog is stable enough to travel in the cabin with the passenger.
