Meet Colette!

Note: This dog is an Affenpinscher and is being posted here as a courtesy since Affenpinchers have no website. This dog's rescue and re-homing is not being supported by The National Brussels Griffon Club.

Bonjour Friends,

I have a beautiful French name, Colette, so I thought I would introduce myself to you in that language. I am a German dog, an Affenpinscher, but France and Germany are next door to each other.

Let me tell you about myself.....I am three years old, I am black with a little bit of a silver beard, and I weigh between 9 and 10 pounds. I have been a mom myself three times in my short life, but now I have been spayed. My foster mom says that means I won't have any more puppies, but that's okay with me. I just hope all my kids were as lucky as I was to get out of that awful puppy mill. I live in a house right now with eight foster brothers.

I am a real snuggler and I just love people. I have three years worth of love to make up, so that means I have three years of love to give to you before I even start on some new love! I'll tell you one thing I am good at. I can really do the Affen wiggle and the Affen dance, and if any of you have ever seen that, you know how neat that is. If you haven't seen it, you are in for a real treat. Oh, I almost forgot, I am crate-trained and almost house-broken. That's kind of a hard thing to learn when I have been used to a small cage, but I am really doing a good job my Mom says. She always hugs me and says, "Good, Colette!" That makes my tail wiggle a lot.

The doctor said I am in really good shape. I have had all my shots, am heartworm negative and on prevention, and I have absolutely none of those nasty worms or parasites. I need to gain a little weight, but not much. I am doing well on coming to people. Sometimes when you have been neglected, abused or used, it is kind of hard to learn to trust again, but I am doing a terrific job everyone says. I can even walk on a leash now and I love to ride in the car. Also, one of the most fun things to do is to go out in the backyard and run, chase and roll in the leaves or snow. I like it when it is cold too. I just started barking when someone comes to the door, so I can protect you now too. Cool, eh!

If you would like to meet a nice little madamoiselle/fraulein, e-mail my foster mom's friend, Linda. Her name is at the bottom of this letter, and she will call my mom. I live in Kansas now and I can stay here for a long time if I want, but I sure would like to find a family to live with me and love me forever.

I hope I meet you soon,
Au revoir, auf wiedersehen, and bye from your friend,

Colette the Affenpinscher

If you would like more information, contact Linda McKellar. If you are interested in adoption please fill out our Adoption Application.

Colette is located in Wichita, Kansas.

Keep in mind that we prefer to place dogs within driving distance of where they are being fostered. If someone from outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must be willing to fly in to get the dog and that can only happen if the dog is stable enough to travel in the cabin with the passenger.

Note: Colette is not being sponsored by NBGC. She was rescued from a puppymill auction by some folks who love affens and donated funds for their rescue and vet work.
