  Meet Chewie!
(#3315)
Adoption Pending

When Chewieís foster mom speaks about him, she is full of compliments, saying he is polite, calm, friendly, sweet, secure, not demanding, and a perfect gentleman. She said he is one of the best foster guests she has ever had.

Chewie was an owner surrender; his previous family said they could not house train him. He had never had house training issues until two larger breed puppies were brought into the home; and since he came to stay with his foster mom in early September, he has not had a single accident in her house. He is now on a regular potty schedule and has been a very good boy, always doing his business outside.

Chewie is happy just being a part of a family and will gladly lie next to you as you watch television; he doesnít need to be on your lap, but he does like to lean in close and put his paw on you. He loves everyone he meets and he has done well with the menagerie of small dogs with which he has come in contact. He also likes cats.

Chewie sleeps like a rock on his foster momís bed, along with his foster sibs. When his foster mom needs to go out, she confines him to one room, and he behaves well in her absence.

When Chewie first arrived at his foster home, his back leg muscles were weak, so he couldnít go very far on walks. He is now up to a mile and continues to gain strength. His new family will need to keep up with regular walks to help Chewie continue to regain his strength. (Whatís good for his body will be good for yours too.)

Chewie is smart and follows basic commands. Heís not into toys and hasnít shown much interest in playing. We feel he would be fine with a like-size furry companion with a similar energy level to keep him company, but he would also be okay as an only dog-child.

Chewie is six years old and weighs 18 lbs. He is up-to-date on vaccinations, neutered, micro-chipped, has freshly cleaned teeth, and is heartworm negative. All Chewie needs is a devoted family who will give him the love and attention he deserves. Do you have a little extra space in your heart and home for this charming, handsome gentleman?

Chewie is being fostered near Denver, CO.

If you are interested in adoption please fill out our Adoption Application. If you would like more information, please contact Connie Lawrence at conniel@andell.com.

Keep in mind that we prefer to place dogs within driving distance of where they are being fostered. If someone from outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must be willing to fly in to get the dog and that can only happen if the dog is stable enough to travel in the cabin with the passenger.
