Barney is approximately 1½ years old and has been living with his foster
mom in California. He is a purebred Brussels Griffon, although he does not
look like your show quality Griff. He is 19 lbs, long legged and has
natural ears and a natural tail. He has a nice red wire coat.
Barney has never lived a normal home life. He lived the last six months in
either a kennel or in a crate in a camper. At one point he was mistreated.
When he came into foster care he was very nervous and afraid to come to us.
Over the last month he has made wonderful progress. He comes to us,
although at times it takes coaxing. He walks nicely on a leash and travels
well in the car.
Barney really wants to please and I think he will be easy
to train. He is not fully potty trained, but we are working on it. Barney
likes people, but gets scared quickly if you move to fast at him.
Barney needs a house with a yard, as he loves playing and running outside.
He is full of energy and enjoys long walks. Barney is crate trained, but he
does seem to get overly nervous if left for long periods of time. He needs
a loving, stable home where he will feel secure. He will need someone who
will understand his past, and work with him to adjust to the ‘good life’.
Barney is a very sweet dog and deserves a permanent home. Once he bonds
with you, he will be your loyal friend forever.
If you are interested in adopting Barney, please complete an adoption application. For more information contact Felicia or Margie.
Keep in mind that we prefer to place dogs within driving distance of where they are being fostered. If someone from outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must be willing to fly in to get the dog and that can only happen if the dog is stable enough to travel in the cabin with the passenger.
