Grendel
Houston, TX
Missing since September 2, 2007

I lost my beloved affenpinscher on September 2, 2007, but so few people know what they are, plus my baby looks so much like the Griffons, that I wanted to have his picture posted here. I often had people stop me and say “oh that’s the dog from the movie (as good as it gets) and I would explain the difference. I would do anything to get my baby back. I actually “spoke” for him when he was only two weeks old and picked him up when he was eight weeks old. He was 11 when he escaped. I am so heartbroken. Here is his information:

Grendel, my beloved affenpinscher, is a neutered male and was 8 lbs when he escaped on September 2 from my yard in the Heights area of Houston, but if someone has him he could have gained a lot very quickly since he is a little pig. I always had to watch how much he ate. If he is alone out there he could be very small. He has very short legs and is very compact. Grendel’s tail is cropped, but his ears are natural and do not have very much fur. His coat is very soft unlike most of the wiry affens. His face is not quite as smushed as the Griffs and the eyes are not quite as prominent. He has a lot of brown and grey in his coat now. He started out very black but is now 11 years old.

Grendel also has a hard boney growth on the very top of his head that the vet said would not hurt him. He is a typical affen in that he is very shy of strangers. He is microchipped and I think that it works as I had my other dog chipped at the same time and his scanned perfectly last month. Grens had a collar and tag on when the little devil found a loose board and slipped out of my fence. I have searched everywhere, posted signs, ran newspaper ads, visited vets, sent out emails to every animal group list that I could find, driven and walked miles calling for him, called shelters, talked to every person that I met, and have posted a $1000.00 reward – no questions asked just to get him back. I just hope that some Griff lover might see him and think that he is a Griff and get him back to his mom and other dogs. We miss him terribly.

The of picture of him is when he was younger, but it gives a good idea of his appearance. I miss him so much that my heart is broken.
