Dixie, an 11 month old Brussels Griffon puppy, accidentally slipped out of her home in Northern California while in the care of a pet sitter. Her distraught owner did everything possible to find her, to no avail. Three and a half years later, a female Griffon was turned in to National Brussels Griffon Rescue in the Las Vegas area. Because her circumstances were shared immediately, the question of whether this might be Dixie was raised promptly. Upon further investigation her identity was confirmed and Dixie was reunited with her loving owner. All who knew the story were thrilled. Dixie's story made us aware of an unmet need, and so in honor of Dixie, we dedicate this page. She has become a symbol of hope.

As a service to the Griffon community, NBGR will maintain this *Missing Griffon Alerts* section of our web site. There have been many instances similar to Dixie's where a Griffon has been recovered by Rescue and subsequently traced back to the original breeder or owner even after several years. This should enable us to do so more quickly and surely. We shall post information as we receive it about lost or missing Brussels Griffons, the circumstances, and their description. In this way our members and the public can all keep their eyes peeled and assist in more joyful recoveries.

K-9 Amber Alert
This is a nationwide group and is to be used for posting alerts for missing dogs throughout the United States similar to the way Amber Alerts are used to help find missing or abducted children. Incidents will be typical of, but not limited to: dogs escaped or suspected taken from backyards, dog shows, caretakers. Photos can be uploaded to the group. http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/K9AmberAlert

SPECIAL WARNING FOR VACATIONERS

A Griffon without it's family is like a fish out of water. They may seem fine, but are much more likely to slip thru a door or wander out of a house or yard (in search of *home*?) and become lost or injured while you are away. Please impress super-vigilance on your substitute care-givers when you go on vacation.
